Collaboration

Collaboration is a process in which individuals with a stake in a problem actively seek a mutually determined solution. Agreeable solutions can be achieved in the process by consensus or compromise. A consensus is a mutually agreed upon collectively developed decision that reflects the needs and wishes of everyone. A compromise is an agreement reached by adjustment and concession of specified positions (Susskind and Cruikshank 1987, Gray 1989, O’Leary and Bingham 2003).
