Deterministic Variable

A variable whose value is either known with certainty or is treated as such for simplicity (Thomas and Huggett 1980). As an example, here is a simple deterministic model for the relation between x and y: y = a + bx. In this function, there is no stochastic error term, so y can only assume one fixed value.
