Lake Management

Lakes, ponds, and other non-flowing aquatic systems, whether natural or manmade, have a natural life cycle. They usually begin as clean, relatively nutrient-free systems, and then depending on size and other considerations, gradually fill with sediments and plants. Managing these water-bodies entails an understanding of natural processes as well as local economic and societal drivers. Lake management strives to protect, enhance, conserve, and if necessary restore the water-body, and to advocate for environmentally and economically sound resource protection strategies.
