Data envelopment analysis is a methodology for analyzing the relative efficiency of several decision making units or alternatives; the hypothesis underlining DEA is that multiple, incommensurate inputs in a given spatial unit (decision alternative) generate multiple, incommensurate outputs in that unit; the unit’s efficiency is measured as a ratio of a weighted sum of the outputs to a weighted sum of the inputs; the units under consideration are evaluated according to the efficiency measures.
