Descriptive Statistics

When summarizing geographical data it is often useful to distribute the data into classes or categories and to determine the number of items belonging to each class. Descriptive statistics are summary values that describe features of the distribution, including measures of central tendency and measures of variation (norms/averages and dispersion).
