The maximum score procedure standardizes the raw data by dividing each raw score by the maximum value for a given criterion. The value of standardized scores can range from 0 to 1. The higher the value of the score, the more attractive is the criterion value. The advantage of this method is that it is a proportional (linear) transformation of the raw data. This means that the relative order of magnitude of the standardized scores remains equal.
