Spatial Version Of Non-Ranked Voting

A spatial version of the one-person, one-vote approach is implemented in ActiveReponse GIS (Faber, Wallace and Miller 1996). In the spatial version, e.g. in the context of forest plan support, each participant can outline an area(s) to be protected (or not protected depending on the proposition under consideration). Software will perform the polygon overlay to compute the greatest common areal unit of vote (protection), i.e. the intersection of the most overlapping polygons
