Phase 5 - Choice

While the devemopment of alternative decisions is purely part of the design stage, the evaluation of alternatives is mainly part of the choice phase. The choice phase is what many people think of as making a decision. It involves selecting a particular course of action (alternatives) from those available. At this phase each alternative is evaluated and analyzed in relation to others in terms of a specified decision rule. The rule is used to rank the alternatives under consideration. The ranking depends on the decision maker’s preferences.
