Sensitivity analysis is defined as a procedure for determining how the recommended course of action is affected by changes in the inputs to the analysis. Specifically it aims at identifying the effects of changes in the inputs on the outputs (ranking of alternatives). If the changes do not significantly affect the outputs, the ranking is considered to be robust. If results are found to be unsatisfactory, the users can return to the problem formulation step. Sensitively analysis should be considered as an exploratory process by which the decision makers achieve a deeper understanding of the structure of the problem. It helps to learn how the various decision elements interact to determine the most preferred alternative and which elements are important sources of disagreement among decision makers or interest groups.
